QuickStart Menus and Toolbar Buttons

Figure 3 shows a closeup view of the PocketDraw menu bar at the bottom of the document view screen. In addition to the application's menus, the menu bar also contains buttons that control the screen layout.

The Palettebar button controls the display of the symbol and tool palettes. When this button is on (highlighted) the palettes are displayed. When the button is off both the symbol and tool palettes are removed from the screen.

Pressing the Full-screen button expands the canvas area so that it occupies all of the screen except the navigation bar (see figure 1). The menu bar, tool and symbol palettes are all hidden. Tap the navigation bar to return the menu bar, tool and symbol palettes to their previous state. Or, tap the Ok button while in full-screen mode to close the document and return PocketDraw to the document list view.

Whenever the tool palette is hidden (either because the Palette bar button is off, or the application is running full-screen) the Pan tool is implicitly selected and any stylus movement on the canvas scrolls the document.

Pressing the New button, located at the left end of the menu bar creates a new PocketDraw document.

The Edit menu provides the normal complement of clipboard operations, including cut, copy, paste, and delete. Clipboard operations work with all PocketDraw objects on the canvas.

The Tools menu contains an eclectic collection of operations that don't fit conveniently in other menus. These include:

About PocketDraw...   Displays the PocketDraw version, as well as copyright and trademark information.
  Registration...

Displays registration information. If your copy of PocketDraw is registered, this will display your product ID number. If this is a demo copy of PocketDraw, the number of days until expiration will be displayed instead. This screen is also where you enter the serial number you receive when you purchase PocketDraw.

Save As...   Brings up a standard Pocket PC Save As dialog box.
Preferences...   Accesses the Canvas grid and default document size preferences.
Line Defaults...   Displays the default properties, including color, thickness, and end style of lines created with the Line, orthogonal connector, and straight connector tools.
Pen Defaults...   Displays the default thickness and color of the Pen tool.

The View menu controls Canvas display properties. These include the zoom level, whether the scroll bars are visible or hidden, and whether the grid is displayed.
